Your Future
Opportunities
Architecture is an exciting and challenging course. You are encouraged to design and make models in our design studio, and to use our computing facilities to design and build your projects. This course is enhanced through cross-learning workshops with other courses, including Interior Architecture & Design and Landscape Architecture. Throughout the course there are external events organised by staff, including lectures and workshops, as well as the opportunity for overseas visits, to cities such as Rome, Barcelona, Venice and Amsterdam.
Future Career
This degree provides a foundation for those wishing to become Architects and is an excellent general degree. Graduates have taken up careers from management consultancy to virtual architecture in computer games. To become a fully qualified Architect takes seven years and Leeds Metropolitan offers the professional body recognised courses required. You will need to complete an MArch (Master of Architecture) giving exemption from Part II of the Royal Institute of British Architects examination in architecture. You will then complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Architectural Professional Practice, giving exemption from Part III.
Additional Information
At interview you are assessed on a portfolio of creative work (artwork or photographs of artwork together with written assignments), general knowledge and your enthusiasm for architecture.

International applicants and others who are not able to attend for interview are asked to complete a simple illustrated design project or send a portfolio of art and design work.

Applicants who apply for advanced standing are interviewed by the Course Leader and the appropriate level tutor. Decisions are made on an individual basis including any APL/APEL.

Part-time students are interviewed and prior learning and experience is assessed (APL and APEL).
