Overview
About Your Course
The course develops your ability to engage with the practice and study of design in commercial and social contexts. Through a mixture of theory and practice, you will develop your design skills and knowledge. You will explore and debate design issues, experience the workplace, reflect on work organisations and carry out creative design projects. You can focus on the contexts, issues and design outcomes that will be of benefit to you personally.

Your previous experience, study interests and career aspirations are used to determine your route leading to one of three routes: MA Design, MA Design Product or MA Design Interior Architecture.

You will have access to two dedicated, purpose-built studio spaces in our award-winning building, Broadcasting Place. In semester two there are options for distance learning to support students whose work-based learning makes it difficult to attend.
Benefits of studying this course
The course is intended to attract applicants primarily from four constituencies:
Progression from BA/ BSc courses in design/ design related subjects
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for designers in employment
CPD for employees with involvement in design
People seeking career change within creative/ design related professions

Masters students join a community of staff and post graduate researchers with a range of skills and personal design practices. Core to the department is the concept of user focused, responsible design.
