About Your Course
The postgraduate diploma is an advanced programme of design and professional studies for students who wish to become Chartered Landscape Architects. The course has full accreditation from the Landscape Institute. You can top-up your postgraduate diploma into an MA by carrying out additional design or practice-based study.
Landscape practitioners highly regard this design-based course, which explores values, knowledge, skills and techniques appropriate to the development of creative, reflective designers. You can negotiate a programme of studies to broaden and deepen knowledge and skills relevant to your individual interests, needs and career aspirations.
This course provides opportunities to respond to current environmental challenges and issues relevant to Landscape Architecture, which may include live projects and competitions. The Major Design Project applies thematic design research to a project site at a range of scales, along with two studio options for your negotiated study, linked to staff research and specialisms. Unique to Leeds Metropolitan, you will also benefit from a Landscape Resource Centre and Experimental Gardens.

Major Design : Design & Technical Resolution in Landscape Architecture
The final part of the three module set examines design development and resolution at anadvanced level, including aspects of landscape environment engineering, technical resolution of planting and constructional elements, and landscape management.
Major Design : Design Development & Site Planning in Landscape Architecture
For the second part of the module set you will explore and apply contemporary approaches and strategies to development and resolution of creative and responsive design solutionsat a range of scales, as appropriate to the project, strategies, frameworks, master plans
and site designs.
Major Design: Research, Contexts & Precedents in Landscape Architecture
This module forms the first part of the three module set of the major design project inLandscape Architecture. It challenges you to explore and apply key research and analysis
techniques, theories and strategies to an agreed student initiated, complex landscape
design project.

A scholarship of £1,500 is available to new full-time students studying an MA, MSC or MBA (180 credits) who are eligible to pay Home/EU fees. For students studying for an award such as a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits), Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits), or part-time, a pro rata scholarship is available. Graduates of Leeds Metropolitan University and partner colleges within the Regional University Network (RUN), qualify for a 10% discount on postgraduate tuition fees if they have graduated within the last five years.

Part-time
Part-time, year one typically £63.90 per credit-point
The total cost of a Part-time course is determined by the number of modules you take in an academic year. Modules are made up of credit-points, and Part-time fees are typically quoted as fee-per-credit-point.
To calculate the typical cost of study: Fee-per-credit-point (e.g £63.90) x credit-points per module (e.g20) = module cost of £1278. If you study 4 modules in a year the cost would be £5112 for that year.
