About Your Course
We have designed this course for people looking to progress further, or begin a career in marketing. Whether you are a recent graduate or already work in a marketing position, our course will give you the chance to build on your existing knowledge and move you on to the next level.

You will develop a keen understanding of consumer behaviour, exploring segmentation, targeting and positioning, and how communications and branding can achieve marketing success. You will also appreciate the key theories and ideas behind marketing strategies. We are committed to offering you practical, hands-on experience in the industry and that's why we provide you with opportunities to get involved in live consultancy projects for regional organisations. This is a chance to apply the skills you are learning in the workplace and give your CV a competitive edge.

If you already hold a CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma qualification you may claim exemption or be given Accredited Prior Learning from elements of the course.

Our course team are members of the leading professional bodies - Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Academy of Marketing. The pioneering research undertaken by our staff means you will study the most current developments and topics that are being addressed in industry and research.

You will be taught by experts with first-hand experience in the field, including our Course Leader, Jon James - a Chartered Marketer and a member of the Academy of Marketing. Jon has published work on e-marketing and the Single Euorpean Market, as well as multi-media training materials, and has provided marketing consultancy for both the private and public sector.

Core modules include:
Consumer Behaviour & Research from a European Perspective (20 credits)
The module develops students' understanding of how and why customers buy in increasingly complex marketing environments - knowledge underpinned by marketing analysis & planning as the basis for segmentation, targeting and positioning.
Managing Marketing Resources (20 credits)
The module introduces students to marketing in an organisational context and develops knowledge and competencies in staff management, costing, budgeting, forecasting & financial appraisal. It has a clear operational focus.
Marketing Communications Strategy (20 credits)
The module provides underpinning knowledge of the way in which communications work and how branding principles can be applied in achieving marketing success.
Personal Development Planning (10 credits)
The module develops students' personal, academic and professional skills - allowing achievement of their potential at University and as lifelong learners. It is linked closely to the Managing Marketing Resources module.
Strategic Marketing Management
This module provides students with the key concepts, frameworks and tools associated with strategic analysis and proceeds to examine and consider the application of marketing strategies open to different organisations.

The tuition fee for the year for students entering in 2013/14 is £6000. The amount you will pay may increase each year to take into account the effects of inflation. See further information on financing your studies.

10% Discount for graduates
Graduates of Leeds Metropolitan University and partner colleges within the Regional University Network (RUN), qualify for a 10% discount on postgraduate tuition fees if they have graduated within the last five years.

The fee shown here is the 'gross' fee for new students starting in the 2012/13 academic year, before the application of any scholarship or discount. A scholarship of £1,500 is available to new full-time students studying an MA, MSC or MBA (180 credits) who are eligible to pay Home/EU fees. For students studying for an award such as a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits), Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits), or part-time, a pro rata scholarship is available. The table below provides further details:

The fee will be fixed at this level for each year of your course.

A scholarship of £1,500 is offered to all new full-time overseas fee paying students joining the first year of a course in 2012-13. Only students paying the full 2012-13 overseas fee are eligible for this scholarship. The international scholarship is awarded in the first year of study only. Please note that students joining a programme part way through or joining a dedicated top-up course are not eligible for this scholarship. Students studying a Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma are eligible for a pro rata scholarship of £500 and £1000 respectively.

10% Discount for graduates
